NC Sales Tax Holiday

As the school year quickly approaches, parents and college students are rapidly preparing for start of a new year. School supplies, clothes, dorm room survival necessities, and more, are all flying off the shelves of Targets and Wal-Marts everywhere. As the North Carolina Tax Holiday approaches this weekend, higher end product retailers and clothing stores are getting ready for a cascade of shoppers wanting to get their laptops, designer jeans and other expensive items that usually generate higher sales tax revenues.

Although most people are fully in summertime living mode, the NC Sales Tax Holiday, which started in 2002, is a big wake up call for those not yet ready for fall. Just a week and a half to two weeks before major universities start classes, “tax-free weekend” initiates the back-to-school/prepare for fall phase for shoppers, which can be a sad time for those who love summer. Shopping on a budget!

Girls today love more than anything to go shopping for new things! They want the latest and greatest of everything to stay hip and cool! This can be kind of tough in our current economical times. Purchasing those things we want, and not need are getting harder and harder to do. But, there are ways around this. There are deals to be had!

We’ll start with my favorite, SHOES! Shoes can make or break your outfit and finding the right ones are like finding a pin in a haystack. It’s hard work, but can be done. And my, oh my shoes can get pricey! They can range from just a few dollars to thousands of dollars. Some great ways to find shoes for a bargain are to first; ask around. See if any of your friends have shoes in your size that they no longer use or need. Another great option is searching on a site like ebay or craigslist. There are also a number of cheap shoes shops that can meet your needs as well. (more…)
