Shopping with and for a Teen, Going Green

You think you know what nightmares are made of, until you go shopping with your teenage son or daughter. This sounds like it’s really funny, but it isn’t, not until about 10 years later. I have first hand experience with shopping for a son about to go into seventh grade, who needed new sneakers. I took him shopping and we went to no less than 10 shoe stores. We stepped inside the store, he swept a glance around and said in a loud determined voice, “Nope.” Please don’t think I’m a pushover, I gave up and he did not have new shoes for the beginning of that school year. In fact, I vowed to never take him shoe shopping again, and to this day (20 years later), I have not. I now understand why mothers turn prematurely gray. (more…)
